Amplitube and Guitar Rig offer free versions of the software, BIAS FX has a demo version that works for 5 min and then cuts off the sound for 2 or 3 seconds but then you can keep playing without any issues, and there are a lot more. Note: I’d recommend BIAS FX II over those two. With Guitar Rig, on the other hand, it usually takes me a couple minutes to really dial in the tone. I have to say, however, that Amplitube feels more realistic to me than Guitar Rig, and I also don’t have to spend too much time trying to make it sound nice since it just seems to work.
